Taking part in an event for SLaM
How can I sign up?
Our events team will be very happy to help you register for your chosen challenge event. You can either visit our events section to find a particular event, or just email our team at email@example.com
Alternatively if you’d like to organise your own event, we can support you with ideas and fundraising materials such as collection boxes, balloons and t-shirts. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know what you’re be doing and how we might be able to help.
Can anyone take part?
Yes! We welcome everyone to be part of our fundraising team for SLaM.
How old do I have to be to take part?
Some events do have an age restriction, so if you're under 16 years old and interested in taking part in a run or a challenge, please email us at email@example.com.
How much do I have to raise?
Depending on which event you are taking part in there may be a minimum sponsorship which we ask you to pledge to raise. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more and how we can help you with your fundraising.
What happens if I can’t raise the minimum sponsorship?
We are here to support you with fundraising and can help with ideas, suggestions and fundraising plans so please do email us at email@example.com should you have any concerns.
How do I prove I’m fundraising for you?
Just email us firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be able to send you a letter of authorisation stating that you are fundraising for us.
What fundraising support will I receive?
You will received unlimited support from the Events and Community team, a fundraising guide, sponsorship forms, materials order form and information on how to best promote your online giving page. We also have Facebook groups set up for our runs and challenges for you to chat to fellow participants to exchange fundraising ideas and training tips.
Will you help with my training for my event?
We have training plans for marathons, half marathons and cycle rides in our fundraising pack, which we will send to you once you are signed up. We also offer training runs in London for all our supporters.
How do I set up a Virgin Money Giving page?
Setting up your own fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving is an easy way to collect sponsorship and donations. To get started, visit the Virgin Money Giving website, name your event and select Maudsley Charity. Then contact our Events Team by emailing email@example.com to let us know which appeal, ward or department you want to fundraise for so we can distribute your donations to right place. However, if you need some help or want us to send you a sponsorship form, then just get in touch.
How do I pay in the money I raised?
First count the money you’ve raised – make sure to have someone else is present when you do that. Then take the money to the bank and ask to have a cheque made out to Maudsley Charity.
Lastly, put the cheque and your completed donation form in the post to the charity address provided on our contact page, and we’ll take care of the rest.
